Angel’s Fishing Rods

The angel’s fishing rods (Dierama pulcherrimum) will be flowering in the walled garden throughout July.

We plant them in the grass garden but they are actually part of the iris family. Being from the southern half of Africa they like sunny open positions. Ours seed readily giving us a plentiful supply of young plants to use in other parts of the park.

Pulcherrimum means very beautiful and the plant certainly lives up to that name.
