Boreray Sheep

The Boreray sheep have been moved to the field leading upto Nature Centre. These are the rarest of Britain’s native sheep breeds, with fewer than 300 resgistered ewes in the country.

These small but very hardy sheep are named after the remote Scottish island on which they were developed.

Both sexes have horns but those of the rams are thicker and become increasingly curved as they get older.
