Bamboo Feeder

Bamboo feeder

These thick pieces of bamboo have holes drilled in them into which we put food items such as mealworms and crickets. These insects eventually crawl out of the holes providing our animals with a random feed.

We use this simple device for a range of animals from lizards and degus to birds like cranes, ibis and starlings. Some such as the raven have learn’t to manipulate the feeder so the food falls out, others like the kookaburras watch them intently ready to dive on the insects as soon as they fall out.
