Raccoon Dog Fluffballs!

Fluffball alert! Our raccoon dog family are embracing spring and shedding their thick winter coat! This coat keeps them toasty and warm in cold winters and is made of two layers to keep them insulated. They start to shed this in early Spring, with wispy bits of fur coming loose and sticking out!

We put a stiff brush in their enclosure to see if they fancied a bit of a salon-pampering! We often use brushes for enrichment; they’re great for hiding bugs in for different animals to forage through! However, this time we wondered if the dogs might like a good scratch with them!

After a tentative sniff or two, they took to personal grooming with style! Big hair is out it seems, they’re getting ready for their summer look!
