Our otters enjoyed some fantastically fun enrichment on World Otter Day! It’s a very important day for some of our most popular residents and we wanted to give them a treat!
As their name suggests, our Asian short-clawed otters have short claws, which means that their paws are incredibly dexterous! They also eat approximately 25% of their body weight per day – that’s A LOT of food! Their enrichment windows are filled with food mixed in with pebbles, shells and toys. The otters then have to use their paws and sense of smell to find their seafood, fish and meat lunch. This helps to encourage natural foraging behaviours! We hope you enjoy watching them and Happy World Otter Day!
