Cubs and a critically endangered bird

This evening 2nd Ifield beaver scouts had a tour of the nature centre.

This group have been sponsoring two of our Waldrapp or bald ibis since 1995. They named the ibis Fred and Wilma and created a carved plaque that is on display near the aviary.

These birds are a critically endangered species and part of a carefully managed captive breeding programme. Birds bred at the nature centre have moved to other British collections to form new colonies. Further information on these fascinating birds can be found on this website: http://www.iagnbi.org/en/home.
